lyrics

The kids feel evanescent, pushing trolleys down the car-park ramps
and the boys have quite a presence with their busted, bleeding knuckle hands
and the girls they met in the city, scratching their names into the windows of every fucking metro train.

All the I wanted to be since I turned fourteen was the kinda guy you would look at twice - someone you're happy to see
but intentions don't fool anyone, not anyone at all.

As the thick plumes of smoke dance in the air around me, carrying all my lessons from university, I'll be sitting in the gutter with the comfort of a cigarette and a bottle to send me to sleep.
I'll be out here all night feeling sorry for disappointing you.
If there's a way to smell a burnout it's through the smoke that he breathes and the holes in his shirt and his shoes.

All that I wanted since I turned seventeen was someone to sit in this gutter, sharing a cigarette with me,

and say "the black cloud in your head, well I've seen it too.
The weight you've got around your neck, well thats nothing new.
So no matter how far we roam, we'll find something to do
and no matter how far you fall, I'll always love you.

Someone take me home,
Someone take me out of here,
We can go.
